CATEGORY, DURATION & REGISTRATION FEES (PRELIMINARY/FINAL)

*Contestant age is determined by the year of birth. For example, 2026 − 2010 = 16 years old.

Youngest category for Flute is from 7 years old onwards. 

Category B :7-9 YO = Max. 8 mins (SGD160/170) 

Category C :10-12 YO = Max. 10 mins (SGD170/180)

Category D :13-15 YO = Max. 15 mins (SGD180/190)

Category E : 16-18 YO = Max. 20 mins (SGD230/240)

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS

Each performer must prepare a set of at least two contrasting pieces.
 

The set pieces listed in the rules are provided for reference and guidance only and are not mandatory.

Participants may choose suitable repertoire that demonstrates contrast in style, period, or character.


The total duration of the entire set must not exceed the specified maximum duration. The same criteria applies for Preliminary and Final.



PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT


All flute contestants must perform with a live piano accompanist for both the preliminary and final rounds.

Contestants may bring their own accompanists or enquire about hiring one through Music Singapore at info@musicsingapore.com.sg. Accompanist bookings provided by the Music Singapore are chargeable and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

No backing tracks are allowed.

GUIDELINE ON VIDEO SUBMISSION

for those selecting the VIDEO ENTRY option
  • The online video recording will need to be submitted upon registration via a YouTube, Google Drive or Tencent Video (腾讯视频) URL. 

  • It is the candidate’s responsibility to create and upload clear and audible video recordings.  

  • Two pieces must be recorded separately, and any form of video editing on the submissions is strictly prohibited. 

  • The video must be recorded NO more than 3 months prior to the candidate’s registration day.

  • The video should be recorded in landscape format and include every contestant / performer (including the accompanist) throughout the whole video. If you are referring to a music score, please show the original book cover during the introduction. 

FOR FINAL ROUND
 

  • All live performances must be memorized. Please perform from memory.

  • Piano accompanists may use score/iPad. 

  • Contestants must show their original sheet music at the Semi-Final registration counter for verification.

  • Contestants may opt to play the same or different repertoires for the Preliminary and the Final Round. Please indicate this clearly during your registration for the Final Round.  For piano only - you are allowed to add on additional piece - the third piece, as long as the total performance time is within the maximum duration of the participating category.
