Maximum Group Size: 30 pax (excluding conductor and accompanist)

CATEGORY, DURATION & REGISTRATION FEES (PRELIMINARY/FINAL)

*Contestant age is determined by the year of birth. For example, 2026 − 2010 = 16 years old.
*Duration excludes any time spent on/off-stage transitions, or intermissions between pieces.
 

Category Q :Beginner = Max. 8 mins (SGD300/320)

Category R:Intermediate = Max. 12 mins (SGD320/340)

Category S :Advanced = Max. 18 mins (SGD340/360)



REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS

Category Q : ONE free choice and ONE from…
 

  • One folk song (from any culture) or simple classical arrangement.

  • One contemporary or light pop arrangement.


Vocal Arrangement: Unison or Two-Part Harmony (e.g. SA or TB)

Duration: Each piece is 3 to 4 minutes long. Maximum 8 minutes for both pieces. 


Accompaniment: Optional piano or backing track allowed. 


 

Category R : TWO choices from below (pick two out of three)...

 

  • One classical or sacred piece (e.g., from Baroque or Romantic periods).

  • One traditional folk song with optional cultural elements.

  • One contemporary or modern piece (including jazz or gospel).

 

Vocal Arrangement: SATB or SSA/TTBB. Modest a cappella sections are encouraged.

 

Duration: 3–5 minutes per piece. Maximum 12 minutes for both pieces. 

 

Accompaniment: Piano or minimal percussion allowed.


 

Category S : THREE choices from each of the following:

 

  • One fee Renaissance or Baroque sacred work (a cappella).

  • One contemporary choral piece by a living composer.

  • One traditional folk song or cultural piece with complex harmonies.

  • One free-choice piece from any genre.

 

Vocal Arrangement: SATB, SSAATTBB, or more advanced configurations.A cappella strongly encouraged.


Duration: Each piece should not exceed 6 minutes. Maximum 18 minutes in total.

Accompaniment: Limited or no accompaniment preferred.

No backing soundtrack is allowed to be used. No amplification (no microphone) will be provided. 

PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT


All Choir contestants must perform with a live piano accompanist for both the preliminary and final rounds.

Contestants may bring their own accompanists or enquire about hiring one through Music Singapore at ask@musicsingapore.com.sg. Accompanist bookings provided by the Music Singapore are chargeable and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

No backing tracks are allowed. No amplification (no microphone) will be provided.

GUIDELINE ON VIDEO SUBMISSION

for those selecting the VIDEO ENTRY option
  • The online video recording will need to be submitted upon registration via a YouTube, Google Drive or Tencent Video (腾讯视频) URL. 

  • It is the candidate’s responsibility to create and upload clear and audible video recordings.  

  • Two pieces must be recorded separately, and any form of video editing on the submissions is strictly prohibited. 

  • The video must be recorded NO more than 3 months prior to the candidate’s registration day.

  • The video should be recorded in landscape format and include every contestant / performer (including the accompanist) throughout the whole video. If you are referring to a music score, please show the original book cover during the introduction. 

FOR FINAL ROUND
 

  • All live performances must be memorized. Please perform from memory. 

  • Piano accompanists may use score/iPad. 

  • Contestants must show their original sheet music at the Semi-Final registration counter for verification.
