Born in Latvia, a country with a rich musical culture, Skai picked up the violin at age five and later completed her studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire under the tutelage of renowned musicians, including Igor Bezrodny and Dmitry Shebalyn.
Skai has performed both as a soloist and as a member of chamber and symphonic orchestras in over 20 countries across Europe and America. Prizewinners of national and international competitions—such as the August Dombrovskis International Competition in Latvia, the Kloster Schöntal International Competition in Germany, the Singapore Raffles International Music Festival, and the Music Singapore International Competition—are found among her students. Many have also achieved top awards in various prestigious music competitions across the Baltic States and beyond.
Her younger students have received accolades at the Young Talents Project organized by Radio 92.4FM and have been invited to perform with the Kids’ Philharmonic Orchestra Singapore. She is frequently invited to serve on competition juries and to lead masterclasses, sharing her expertise with the next generation of musicians.
