Rachel Ho (Portrait).JPG

Described by The Straits Times as “a more excellent soloist than Rachel Ho, familiar to concertgoers as Red Dot Baroque’s traverso player, would be hard to find,” Rachel Ho has established herself as a versatile performer on both baroque and modern flute. Her world premiere performance of Eric Watson’s Concerto Arabesque with Resound Collective was praised for “comfortably surmounting its onerous technical challenges.” In a cross-cultural collaboration with the Vamshika Quintet, The Straits Times noted her pristine tone in “perfect conversation with the bansuris, creating true objects of beauty.”

An active orchestral and chamber musician, Rachel has performed internationally with the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra, Ricciotti Ensemble, Baltimore Baroque Band, and locally as principal flautist with the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra and Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM).

Rachel’s experience as a juror includes serving on the panel for the 3rd Asia Flute Federation Junior Competition. She has also given masterclasses at the Kings Flute Festival Singapore, Music Society of Myanmar Festival, and was one of the Festival Artists at 10th Asia Flutists Congress in Shanghai. She has also tutored young flautists at the Singapore National Youth Sinfonia and OMM Orchestra Camp.

Dedicated to arts education and youth development, Rachel has conducted workshops at the Youth Arts Leaders Conference, Global Strings Federation Youth Orchestra Festival, and served as a panellist on exploring music careers and pathways at the WBAS Youth Band Festival.

Beyond performance and teaching, Rachel’s passion for music’s impact on intergenerational interactions and well-being is reflected in her community work with children, at-risk youths, the elderly, and persons with dementia. She has presented her research on these topics at international symposiums in Singapore (YST Performers(’) Present), Thailand (PGVIS), and Australia (SIMM-posium).

Rachel graduated as valedictorian in Flute Performance from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YST) and holds a Master’s in Music Education from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Currently a full-time faculty member at YST, she teaches contextual studies, professional integration, community engagement, and flute area studies, inspiring students to explore music’s role in society.
