Founder and President of the Singapore International Percussion Association, Mario Choo currently holds dual positions as a percussionist and timpanist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO). He also serves as a percussion professor at several esteemed institutions, including the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YST), LASALLE College of the Arts and National University of Singapore (NUS).

Born into a musical family, Mario was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2011, completing his Master’s degree in 2013 with the institution’s highest distinction.

Mario has collaborated with leading symphony orchestras around the world. During his time in Denmark, he composed several percussion ensemble works and performed at major local music festivals. He was invited to perform with the Berlin Philharmonic, where his appearance received high acclaim.

In recent years, he has frequently served as a jury member for international percussion competitions and has been invited to give masterclasses and lectures in various countries.
