We are pleased to receive the Greeting Video from Mr Ryan Lewis of ABRSM, for 2021 Music Singapore International Piano & Violin Competition.
Ryan Lewis is a pianist and music educator from the UK. Currently based in Malaysia, he works with ABRSM as the South & East Asia Regional Consultant with a role to help develop their work and support teachers across the region, as well as being a graded music examiner and workshop presenter. Ryan graduated in music from King’s College London with first class honours, studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music and holds an FRSM diploma in piano performance. He also studied composition and piano at the University of Toronto, Canada.
Ryan is passionate about education research and completed a master’s degree in educational leadership, through the Institute of Education, University College London, passing with distinction. His research interests include developing professional identities of music teachers, building their capacity for leadership, and facilitating learning communities. Ryan has given many talks, led focus groups, and presented conference papers on these topics across Southeast Asia. Prior to his role with ABRSM, he spent three years leading various music education projects in India, including curriculum development, teacher training, and community outreach programmes, in affiliation with the British Council and many other organisations.
