Cho Hang Oh, a South Korea-born cellist, is the winner of several prizes, including 1st prize at the 2010 Korea Herald Competition, 1st Prize of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music's Concerto Competition, as well as the 2nd prize of Elise Meyer Wettbewerb in Hamburg.
He has studied at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Qin Li Wei. Hang Oh has travelled to Shanghai for exchange courses at the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Academy, joined concert project with New York Philharmonic Orchestra and LA Philharmonic Orchestra, and has played part in chamber music with Henning Kraggerud, Peter Jarůšek, Niklas Schmidt, Avri Levitan, Erica Wise, Carole Petitdemange.
He founded 'Baum Quartet' based in Hamburg in Germany, building up career under Prof. Niklas Schmidt. Among with his extensive chamber music appearances, Baum quartet has won first prize for Mendelssohn Competition in Berlin with debut at Konzerthaus in Berlin, silver prize 'Salieri-Zinetti competition in Verona' and honorly received the 'Kultur Preis' sponsored by 'Berenberg Bank' in Elbphilharmonie. Baum Quartet appeared to play in LIVE concert in NDR kultur 90.3. Recently, 'Baum Quartet' had workshop with maestro Alfred Brendel for Mozart Piano Concertos, as well as received 'Audience Prize' from 'Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition'.
Hang Oh has also received invitations to the Ozawa Chamber Festival in 2013 and 2014. He is the founder of Cello Quartet "Chirea Cello Quartet", with whom he embarked on a successful concert tour in China in 2014. He was invited to perform at the Singapore International Music Festival in 2015 and 2016, the Trondheim Chamber Music Festival in 2016, the Mendelssohn Music Festival in Hamburg 2017, and the VII Musethica International Chamber Music Festival in Zaragoza 2019.
He has studied solo master with Prof. Troels Svane in Musikhochschule Lübeck, chamber music master with Prof. Niklas Schmidt in Muiskhochschule Hamburg, Prof. Oliver Wille in Musikhochschule Hannover and Artistic Diploma with Prof. Günter Pichler in Reina Sofia Music Academy in Madrid.
